Tales of the Rays and Xenosaga Collaboration Announced

Featuring KOS-MOS as a playable character.

Bandai Namco announced that mobile RPG Tales of the Rays Recollection will be collaborating with the Xenosaga series! KOS-MOS will appear as a playable character in the near future.

Tales of the Rays first launched on February 28, 2017 in Japan and went on to receive a plethora of major updates. The game’s “Recollection” arc began on April 10, 2023, which is why the game’s current title is Tales of the Rays Recollection. Ahead of the new year, Bandai Namco revealed that Xenosaga is still on their minds.

Tales of the Rays and Xenosaga Collaboration

A shocking new trailer for Tales of the Rays Recollection begins with a homage to the main menu of Xenosaga Episode III: Also sprach Zarathustra, revealing that the RPG series will be collaborating with the mobile RPG. Kanonno Earhart, Velvet, and Laphicet will receive new collaboration outfits based on Momo, T-ELOS, and Chaos respectively. KOS-MOS will also appear as a playable character, with Mariko Suzuki reprising her role as the character’s voice actress. A start date for the collaboration event has not been revealed, however.

Unfortunately, players in the west won’t be able to experience the new collaboration unless they download an APK of the Japanese version. The global version of Tales of the Rays shut down more than five years ago on May 29, 2018.

The Xeno franchise is still going strong, with the most recent release being 2023’s Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed. The expansion tells the story of the City’s Founders, bridging important gaps between the end of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and the beginning of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Moreover, the game’s late-game sequences and post-credits scene leads many to believe that Xenosaga will make its return in the near future.

Lastly, Tales of the Rays Recollection is available now for Android and iOS in Japan.
