Final Fantasy VII Remake Surpasses Seven Million Copies Sold

Square Enix has announced today that Final Fantasy VII Remake has surpassed seven million copies sold. This comes following today’s news of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and a release date of February 29, 2024.

Final Fantasy VII Remake was initially released on April 10, 2020. Previously, it was scheduled for a March 3, 2023, release, but it was delayed due to COVID-19. The game was a PlayStation 4 exclusive. In June 2021, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade launched for PlayStation 5. This edition of the game features enhanced visuals and an all-new DLC titled Episode INTERmission, featuring Yuffie Kisaragi. Intergrade later released for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Reaches 7 Million Copies Sold Worldwide

Final Fantasy VII Remake depicts the events from the first five hours of the original Final Fantasy VII. Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Red XIII team up and escape from Midgar after learning the truths behind the Shinra Electric Power Company. The title opted for an action-based combat system, which was a departure from the original’s ATB turn-based combat.

The remake was announced in 2015 at Sony’s E3 presentation. Tetsuya Nomura served as Director for the title, with Naoki Hamaguchi serving as Co-Director. Additionally, the last update for the number of copies Final Fantasy VII Remake sold occurred in August 2020, at five million. Lastly, it is worth mentioning that this updated number also includes sales of Intergrade
