Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon Teaser Trailer Revealed

    Is that Super Sonic?

A teaser trailer for Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon was revealed today at Gamescom 2023. It was also revealed that this free update for Sonic Frontiers will be available this fall on September 28. The Final Horizon will add new story content, playable characters, and challenges to the game.

The trailer features the cast of Sonic Frontiers facing off against a Titan. Sonic then uses the chaos emeralds to transform into Super Sonic. However, the trailer also appears to tease a potential new super form for Sonic. His eyes turn blue as he seems to gather cyber corruption.

Specific details are still sparse, as no gameplay footage of this update has been shown. Despite this, it should add a substantial amount of content to the game, as it will likely be the biggest update for Frontiers yet. It is unknown how these new playable characters will play and be implemented. Fans will have to wait a bit longer to get more in-depth info on this update.

The Final Horizon marks the third free update for the game. The first update added a Jukebox, a photo mode, and a couple of challenge modes. After this, the second update would add a birthday theme, additional challenges, a New Game Plus mode, and Sonic’s iconic Spin Dash ability.

Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon Teaser Trailer

Sonic Frontiers was released last year to somewhat positive reviews. However, the game still received a fair amount of criticism for its lack of polish and its rushed final act. In response, Sonic Team has been focusing some of their efforts on improving the game since launch.

The Final Horizon should address some of the complaints fans have had about the game’s conclusion. The addition of new playable characters is something that has been highly requested as well. Despite the amount of content being added to the game, SEGA is not charging anything for these updates.

Sonic Frontiers is currently available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. In addition to this update, Sonic Superstars will also be launching this fall on October 17. Be sure to keep an eye on Final Weapon for more Sonic the Hedgehog coverage.
