Final Fantasy XVI: How to Fast Travel

    Simple.

The ability to fast travel in any game is extremely useful, especially in larger titles like the brand-new Final Fantasy XVI. This ability saves you from backtracking across large areas of land, which can be redundant and time-consuming. The world of Valisthea is massive, and you’ll waste so much time if you’re not using the fast travel feature.

If you’re not looking in the right places, you might not even be aware that the game even has fast travel options. They’re quickly glossed over if you’re not reading carefully. Here’s what you need to know about the fast travel options in FFXVI.

How to Fast Travel in Final Fantasy XVI

The fast travel mechanic will not unlock until you’re around 3 hours into the game. This is past the prologue, where the demo ends. After you enter the Orabelle Downs, you will unlock the ability to fast travel with the Obelisk.

Obelisks are scattered across Valisthea and act as the game’s fast travel points. Each area that you visit will have one, so be sure to pass by it so you gain that travel point. With that said, you obviously will only be able to fast travel to locations you’ve already visited. This means you can’t just pick any kingdom you’d like and go there at the beginning of the story.

To initiate the fast travel feature in Final Fantasy XVI, simply head to the world map first. Look around and find the Obelisk that you’d like to teleport to. Once you do, select it, and you’ll be transported to that area.  It’s quite easy and will save you so much time as you uncover new parts of the map.

    Final Fantasy XVI

Final Fantasy XVI was developed by Creative Business Unit III, led by Director Hiroshi Takai and Producer Naoki Yoshida. CBUIII is behind the critically acclaimed MMO Final Fantasy XIV, which continues to grow each year.

Clive Rosfield is the main protagonist of the title, voiced by Ben Starr. He is the only playable character, as the game has a high action focus, or at least more so than previous Final Fantasy titles. Combat design has been directed by Ryota Suzuki, who was a key member of the Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon’s Dogma combat design teams.

A brand new free Final Fantasy XVI demo is available to play now! This demo allows players to play through two sections, the Prologue of FFXVI and the Eikonic Challenge.
