Final Fantasy XVI Development Team Issues Statement About Leaked Retail Copies

Taking action through a thorough investigation.

Square Enix and the Final Fantasy XVI development team issued an official statement about leaked retail copies of the game. The company will be launching a thorough investigation into these copies, and several actions will be taken to limit the spread of the game’s contents.

According to Square Enix, the company is aware about a small number of Final Fantasy XVI physical copies that were released ahead of launch. Square Enix will be taking down any images, videos, and livestreams of the full game until launch day. The company asks fans with early copies to kindly consider others who are waiting until launch day and do not want to be spoiled.

Final Fantasy XVI Statement by Square Enix

We’re aware that a small number of physical copies of Final Fantasy XVI are being circulated. We are in the process of a thorough investigation into illegitimate acquisitions and are acting to limit this ahead of the official launch of the game on June 22nd.

For those who receive a copy ahead of launch, we kindly ask that you do no share any aspect of the game; including screenshots, videos, and livestreams until after Final Fantasy XVI has officially launched.

Our priority is to ensure that the full game experience is not spoiled for our fans, and to do that we will be taking down any images, videos, or streams published ahead of launch day.

We ask for your assistance and cooperation in this final week ahead of launch.

It’s almost June 22nd, and we can’t wait for you to experience the full game the way the development team intended,

    Sincerely,

    The Final Fantasy XVI team

Before launch, eager fans may get their fix of Final Fantasy XVI through a free demo, which is available now in the PlayStation Store. This new Final Fantasy XVI demo contains roughly two hours of gameplay with a prologue section that focuses on Clive’s teenage years in the Grand Duchy of Rosaria. After completing the prologue, players may test their skills in a “special combat” demo featuring an older version of Clive and his Eikonic abilities. Further, prologue save data from the Final Fantasy XVI demo transfers over to the full game.

Lastly, Final Fantasy XVI launches on June 22 for PlayStation 5 worldwide, and a PC version will enter production after the game’s initial release.
