Persona 3 Reload to Feature Fully Voiced Social Links and Unique Tartarus Conversations

    Featuring new side stories.

    Published:

In a new 4Gamer interview, ATLUS and P-Studio staff revealed more details about Persona 3 Reload, including fully voiced social links. The upcoming remake expands upon the events of the original Persona 3 game while bringing important quality-of-life improvements.

Persona 3 Reload director Takuya Yamaguchi, general producer Kazuhisa Wada, and producer Ryota Niitsuma shared insight into development of the remake with 4Gamer. Some of the development staff from Persona 5 Royal moved onto Persona 3 Reload following P5R’s release. One of the main goals for Persona 3 Reload is to create a title that plays just like Persona 5 / Persona 5 Royal, and the remake serves as an important challenge for the future of the series. The development team ensures that Persona 3 Reload retains the identity and elements of the original game while introducing modern aspects that were successful in P5.

Persona 3 Reload – Fully Voiced Social Links and Modern Elements

The staff confirm that all modern series elements from Persona 5 Royal return in Persona 3 Reload, including direct commands and AI commands. In addition, the remake removes the fatigue system, which was a prominent feature in the original Persona 3 games. Moreover, characters will have individual elements for their Personas, and Social Links are fully voiced this time around. All Social Links may be maxed out in the first playthrough, and new side stories were added with Persona 3 Reload in order to compensate for the lack of male Social Links. These side stories allow players to learn more about character backstories outside of Social Links.

As previously discussed with the initial reveal, Persona 3 Reload includes an all-new voice cast for SEES members, including the protagonist. All voice lines were recorded again, and the overall volume of voice-overs is much higher than the original game. Persona 3 Reload includes voiced dialogue with level-ups as well. Players can expect unique conversations with party members in Tartarus as they explore, and the massive dungeon itself has breakable objects now. Although original dungeons were not created, Tartarus will be visually expressive due to improvements made while developing in Unreal Engine.

Lastly, Persona 3 Reload launches in early 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Windows and Steam.
