What Other Events Will Be Take Place?
While they haven’t yet confirmed it, in the past, both PlayStation and Nintendo have used the Summer season to showcase the games it has in development. Recently, PlayStation held a 40+ minute State of Play. During the event, PlayStation revealed the first look at 007 First Light and Pragmata, confirmed that a State of Play dedicated to Ghost of Yōtei will be held in July 2025, and Arc System Works’ next game, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls. It is unknown if PlayStation will reveal more during the Summer Game Fest Live 2025 event.
On the other hand, Nintendo is on the cusp of finally releasing the Nintendo Switch 2. While games such as Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Legends: Z-A have confirmed release dates, other games such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby Air Riders, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment only have a release window of 2025.
The previously rumored Nintendo Direct will undoubtedly focus on these aforementioned games, as well as tease more titles that fans can expect from the first few years of the Nintendo Switch 2. The rumor states that it will either take place at some during the week of June 1, near the Nintendo Switch 2‘s launch, or the week after between June 8 and June 13. Nintendo will likely reveal whether it will be present during Summer Game Fest 2025 in the coming days.
