Nintendo officially revealed Kirby Air Riders today at the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. Directed by Masahiro Sakurai, this game follows the original Kirby Air Ride released for the GameCube in 2003. While many speculated that Masahiro Sakurai’s next game would be the next Super Smash Bros. entry, it seems we’ll be getting his next game soon, as Kirby Air Riders is set to release for Switch 2 this year!

In this presentation, Nintendo also revealed a brand-new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which will feature a story expansion. Players will be able to upgrade to this version of the game for a fee.
Regarding Kirby Air Riders, Nintendo said the following about the game in a press release:
“Kirby Air Riders, a brand-new title originated from the Nintendo GameCube classic racing-action game Kirby Air Ride, and Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros. series, was announced for release this year. The trailer revealed a dramatic introduction of Kirby on his Warp Star machine and other Kirby air riders on a variety of unique machines, as they joined together on a racetrack. Kirby Air Riders will glide onto Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025.”
Kirby Air Riders will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025.
