Fable Has Been Delayed to 2026

Fans will have to wait a little bit longer for this highly anticipated title.

In a new episode of the official Xbox Podcast, head of Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan revealed that they have delayed the next Fable game to 2026. The decision for the delay is simply due to wanting to give Playground Games more time to work on their latest and biggest game to date.

Check out the official Xbox podcast below, which confirms the delay of Fable, and also reveals more details about Doom: The Dark AgesSouth of Midnight, and more:

The public got to see Fable briefly for the first time in 2020 upon its initial announcement. Since then, Xbox revealed another trailer during last year’s Xbox Games Showcase. With this in mind, Fable will launch over 5 years after its reveal.

Playground Games will be responsible for the development of Fable. This is the same studio behind the hit Forza Horizon series, which is known for its beautiful open worlds to race in. While this game obviously won’t feature any cars, the track record of Playground Games is quite solid.

The next game from Xbox, Doom: The Dark Ages, will release on May 13, 2025. The Steam page describes it as follows:

As the super weapon of gods and kings, shred enemies with devastating favorites like the Super Shotgun while also wielding a variety of new bone-chewing weapons, including the versatile Shield Saw. Players will stand and fight on the demon-infested battlefields in the vicious, grounded combat the original DOOM is famous for.

Lastly, Fable will release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC. It will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.
