Today at the 2023 Xbox Showcase, Playground Games revealed a brand new look at Fable. The title was initially revealed at Xbox Showcase 2020 with a one-minute teaser trailer confirming the game for Xbox Series X|S and PC. This Fable trailer is running in-engine, and it does give a general look/feel of how the game will run across the Xbox ecosystem.
Fable is a series that initially began in 2004 on the Xbox. The series went on to have two more installments, Fable II and Fable III, which were released in 2008 & 2010, respectively. Nothing noteworthy came from the series besides Fable Anniversary in 2014. So, you can see why this game is a big deal, as we’ve been a decade without any significant content.
New Fable Trailer Revealed from Playground Games
Initial rumors of a Playground-developed Fable title began swirling in the middle of 2018, which was right before Microsoft ended up acquiring Playground Games as a part of Xbox Game Studios. This was a rumor until officially confirmed in the 2020 Xbox Showcase. Until today, we’ve received no new footage or photography of the title besides a few developer comments stating the game hadn’t restarted development.
It was confirmed through multiple job listings that the new Fable title would be running on ForzaTech. This is the engine that Playground utilizes for the Forza Horizon series, in addition to the upcoming Forza Motorsport. This new trailer was extremely visually impressive, with a massive amount of graphic fidelity shown off. The models, in particular, looked strikingly good, as well as the environments in the trailer.
Like all other first-party Xbox titles, Fable will be available Day One on Xbox Game Pass. You will be able to play the game on Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and through xCloud.
Fable will launch across Xbox Series X|S and PC. No date was revealed with today’s trailer.
