Persona 5 Royal Guide – Take Your Time With These Useful Tips

Become a confident Phantom Thief in no time.

Persona 5 Royal finally arrives on all major platforms including Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Phantom Thieves adventure is a long one, but it’s filled with hours of fun gameplay and memorable moments. At first glance, progressing through Palaces, confidants, and other activities in the game may be overwhelming. Fortunately, we have some useful Persona 5 Royal tips for beginners and returning wildcards alike.

Feel Free to Choose An Easier Difficulty

Before starting Persona 5 Royal, it’s worth noting that difficulty does not affect trophies or achievements in any way. There are five difficulty settings: Safety, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Merciless. It’s recommended to choose Easy or Normal on a first playthrough since the option to change the difficulty is available at all times. Picking the Safety difficulty locks the option for the playthrough. Persona 5 Royal is flexible with its difficulty options, so feel free to choose what’s best for you.

Make The Most Out of Palaces

On the surface, Palaces appear to be giant labyrinths that take multiple in-game days to explore. Stepping into Kamoshida’s Palace for the first time may seem like a daunting experience, but the Palaces are actually designed to be explored within two in-game days or even a single day if the player is skilled enough. Treasure and Personas are waiting to be obtained, so feel free to explore every corner of a Palace once inside. SP items and regeneration are much better in Persona 5 Royal compared to the original title, so Palaces can be conquered in a reasonable amount of time.

Equip the Right Personas for Confidants

Persona 5 Royal has a lot of confidants (social links) to level up, so going into them with a suitable Persona is recommended to save some time. For instance, taking a Lovers Persona into Ann Takamaki’s confidant allows the player to gain extra confidant points since she has the Lovers Arcana. Without the corresponding Persona, it may take longer to reach more confidant ranks. Time management is a key component of Persona 5 Royal, so this tip ensures you have enough time to explore everything the game has to offer. With the right pace and Personas, you can complete every confidant in a single playthrough.

Don’t Burn Yourself Out In Mementos

A variety of requests become available in Persona 5 Royal as the story progresses. Players must also advance through the depths of Mementos, Persona 5 Royal’s massive dungeon. These requests must be completed in Mementos, so its gathering multiple requests and completing them all in one session at a time is recommended. At the same time, you can collect flowers and stamps scattered around Mementos. These items are valuable at Jose’s shop. Some multitasking in Mementos goes a long way toward freeing up time for less tedious activities. In short, it’s best to explore Mementos after obtaining multiple requests.

Check Out Shops and Locations From Time to Time

Tokyo is filled with shops, so it’s worth checking them out again as the game progresses. Shops such as the Secondhand Shop in Yongen Jaya and bookstore in Shibuya will refresh with new items. Items such as books and DVDs are vital to leveling up social stats. Persona 5 Royal has no shortage of useful methods for earning money too, so you should have a lot of money to spend.

Register Personas and Fuse To Your Heart’s Content

The Velvet Room’s Persona Compendium has many entries waiting to be filled, so feel free to fuse Personas after registering them. When a Persona levels up in the field, they must be registered back in the Velvet Room to retain the level and skills recently acquired. After doing so, the player to take advantage of the additional EXP gained for fusion. More fusion methods become available as the game progresses, so feel free to visit the Velvet Room as much as you need. Caroline, Justine, and Igor encourage fusion for “rehabilitation” after all.

    Take Your Time

The loading screen gives a vital tip throughout the entire game: take your time. The time management system seems like a limiting factor, but there’s actually a lot of time for exploration. Persona 5 Royal is an excellent JRPG, so there’s no need to rush and do everything perfectly. Hopefully, these tips serve you well within the stylish world of Persona 5 Royal!
