Sega Sammy published its financial results for fiscal year ending on March 2023, revealing sales data for its key franchises including Persona and Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic Frontiers and the Persona 5 Royal remaster were among the top performing titles for SEGA during the fiscal year.
Persona 5 Royal Remaster and Series Sales
As of March 2023, Persona 5 Royal remaster surpassed 1.7 million copies sold worldwide since its launch on October 28, 2022. The Persona franchise sold approximately 3.27 million copies from April 2022 to March 2023. Sales for the Persona series have increased by nearly two million when compared to the previous fiscal year.
The Persona series is the second highest performer behind the Sonic the Hedgehog series, which sold 8.15 million copies during the fiscal year. Persona moved 270,000 copies in the first quarter, and 230,000 Persona copies were sold in the second quarter. The Persona 5 Royal remaster would release in the third quarter, which saw sales soar to 2.04 million. By the end of the fourth quarter, the series would meet its aforementioned 3.27 million figure with the release of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden (Thanks, Persona Central).
Persona 5: The Phantom X is expected to release in China within the current fiscal year for SEGA, which ends in March 2024. Persona 5: The Phantom X is being developed for Android and iOS by Black Wings Game Studio at Perfect World Games. P-Studio producer Kazuhisa Wada and ATLUS serve a supervisory role for the new mobile game. A Persona 3 remake is expected to release within the next 12 months as well.
Lastly, Persona 5 Royal is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
