Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – How To Beat Aoye

    Make the demon less intimidating.

Aoye is the first boss you will encounter in Part 3 of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Up until now, with the possible exception of Zhang Liang, you may have found the game’s bosses to be forgiving. Aoye is the opposite of that. Any mistakes you make can be devastating or even fatal. Thankfully, Aoye can become quite manageable when you know how to approach the fight.

Preparing to Fight Aoye in Wo Long

By now, you should have a good idea of how the Morale system works. Make sure that you have found every Battle Flag and Marker Flag before facing Aoye. This is good preparation for any boss fight, but it should be repeated here. You will also want to spend any Genuine Qi that you can. In addition, if you have picked up any items that can upgrade the Dragon’s Cure Pot, it will help to use those as well.

If you have any Tiger Seals in your inventory, you may want to make use of them. With these, you can call in reinforcements to help you fight. Whether you summon AI companions or other players online is up to you. However, summoning other players will likely make things a lot easier if you just want to get the fight over with.

    The Boss Fight

Fighting Aoye in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

You may find Aoye’s beastly form to be intimidating, but fortunately, the attack animations are not too hard to read. This is likely why Aoye does not forgive many mistakes. Considering how much time many animations give you to react, it makes sense that Aoye deals a lot of damage for a Wo Long boss. Aoye’s Critical Blows (glowing red attacks) are especially devastating and will drain a lot of your health, if not kill you. It is incredibly important that you learn the deflect timings for these attacks.

Aoye’s normal attacks are not to be underestimated either. Their sweeping attacks can deal a great amount of damage if you are not paying attention. Aoye can attack you from the side and will also shoot ice shards that you need to look out for. While there are a fair number of openings where you can deal damage, you need to be careful to not get too greedy. Aoye will brutally punish you if you are not playing defensively enough.

If you’re having trouble deflecting some of Aoye’s attacks, it’s important to remember that you can block as well. You’ll get chances to replenish your Spirit Gauge with light attacks, so you don’t have to deflect everything. That being said, blocking will not be effective against Aoye’s ice shards and you will still need to deflect Critical Blows. Overall, a good mix of offense and defense is key to defeating Aoye. It may take some practice, but when you become more familiar with the attack patterns, the fight will become a lot less challenging.
