Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Ice Gym Leader Grusha – How to Beat

Here's some tips to help break the ice with Grusha!

Located in Glaseado, Grusha is the Ice-type Gym Leader of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The recommended level to face him is Level 48. Be sure to have a team with Pokémon around that level and some fire, fighting, rock, and steel types.

    Grusha’s Pokémon Team

Be cool when deciding on a team to best Ice Gym Leader Grusha. Here’s what he’s got.

    • Frosmoth: Lvl 47 – Type: Ice/Bug – Moves: Blizzard, Bug Buzz, Tailwind
    • Beartic: Lvl 47 – Type: Ice – Moves: Aqua Jet, Icicle Crash, Earthquake
    • Cetitan: Lvl 47 – Type: Ice – Moves: Ice Spinner, Liquidation, Ice Shard
    • Altaria: Lvl 48- Type: Dragon/Flying – Moves: Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse, Moonblast, Hurricane

    Tactics

Grusha may favor ice-type Pokémon, but he covers his bases with moves. His Frosmoth lures you into a false sense of security with its quadruple times weakness to fire, then his Beartic will strike with Earthquake. Earthquake is a strong ground-type move, meaning it will be super-effective against your fire, rock, and steel Pokémon. That’s three of the four types that ice is weak to. To top it off, his Altaria also knows Hurricane. You may have thought you could use a fighting type to put a stop to him terastallizing his Altaria, giving it flying tera-type, but you would be wrong.
