    Konami plans to release 3 new Silent Hill games including a remake and sequel

    Various Silent Hill games are reportedly in development as Konami plans to release a remake, episodic series and mainline sequel. According to VGC, VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, and various unnamed sources, Konami wants to revive the dormant Silent Hill franchise with multiple major games.

    The outlet states that The Medium developer Bloober Team is working on Silent Hill 2 Remake. The remake features reworked AI, animations, puzzles, story content, and new endings. The game by Konami and Bloober Team is rumored to be a timed PlayStation exclusive.

    A smaller game is reportedly being developed as a story-driven episodic series of “short stories”. Publisher Annapurna Interactive is cited as an company involved with the project, but many other studios could be linked. Details about the episodic series are scarce at this time.

    A new mainline Silent Hill game is in development. A studio linked to the project is unclear, but likely based in Japan. Images of the new game were leaked across social media in May 2022, referring to a free teaser game codenamed ‘Sakura’. Sakura would be released in anticipation of the new games.

    Konami is ramping up game development across their various franchises such as Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill. “Key projects” are in development and could be announced as soon as this summer.

    Major gaming events such as Summer Game Fest and Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase are set for this June.
