Rumor: Multiple remasters and new games are in the works at Konami including Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania

In a recent report by VGC, anonymous sources close to Konami state that multiple remasters and new games are in the works at Konami. These remasters include Metal Gear Solid games with the help of Virtuos, one of the largest gaming development and support studios in the world. Virtuos is known for their work on Switch ports such as The Outer Worlds and Dark Souls Remastered. It’s very possible that a remastered collection of Metal Gear Solid games could finally be coming over to Switch and modern platforms soon.

The rumor also states that Konami is working on a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake but the project is very early in development. This remake would utilize some high-end assets from the Metal Gear Solid 3 pachinko machine. Additionally, Konami is working with an unnamed studio in Japan for a new Castlevania game. This Castlevania game is supposed to be a “reimagining” of the series according to the anonymous sources. Konami’s renewed interest in game development over recent years includes the Bomberman and Yu-Gi-Oh! franchises which have seen new games and releases. Castlevania also made a return with the Castlevania Advance Collection on all modern platforms so there’s definitely some smoke to the fire. However, it’s best to take this rumor with a grain of salt.
