During the DEEP DIVE into KINGDOM HEARTS panel, Disney & Pixar Games and Square Enix have released a 4-minute extended version of the D23 trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV, revealing several new details about the upcoming game. The trailer expands upon what we already knew leading into D23, including Donald and Goofy searching for Sora.
The extended trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV confirms playable Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in various sections of the game. Mickey will search for clues with a book-like world in Scala ad Caelum in order to save Sora, while Donald and Goofy also set out on their own adventure to find Sora. Donald and Goofy will also venture into the Coco world, which was revealed at the initial D23 trailer.
The identity of Vali from Kingdom Hearts Dark Road was also reconfirmed, and a cloaked figure—likely Luxu—also appeared to speak to Xehanort. The Master of Masters also appeared in a flashback reminiscent of a scene from the Back Cover movie. Riku, who went on a search for Sora after the events of Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, is proven to be successful as he reaches Quadratum to aid Sora, Sigurd, and Strelitzia.
Kingdom Hearts IV will launch in late 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. In fact, co-producer Tai Yasue reassured fans at D23 that the game will release next year with “absolutely no delays.” What’s more, the Kingdom Hearts: The Series anime was announced for Disney+ and Disney Channel with an all-new story by Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix.
Kingdom Hearts IV is available to wishlist now for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. What’s more, the series is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] on October 8. A demo for Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind and pre-orders for Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] are available now. KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX will be available natively on Nintendo Switch, too.
