A new website has revealed that Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Steam Time Locomotive (Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Jōki Jikansha) will release in spring 2027. A short trailer was also released for the film and some staff announcements were made.

Thus far, the film has announced that Rushio Moriyama will be directing and Makoto Ueda will be writing the movie’s script. Moriyama has previously worked as both a storyboarder and director for episodes of the Doraemon anime since 2020. Ueda has worked on The Tatami Galaxy, Tatami Time Machine Blues, and Penguin Highway. The film will see Nobita going to Victorian London.
Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil released on February 27 in Japan, also receiving 4D screenings. It was a remake of Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil, released in 1983. Tetsuo Yajima returned after directing episodes of the Doraemon TV anime series and contributing to Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s New Great Adventure into the Underworld, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Steel Troops: The New Age, and Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Chikyū Symphony. Isao Murayama wrote the film’s screenplay and rock band sumika performed the theme song “Honto.”
The Doraemon TV anime has been ongoing since 2005. Last October, it received a new ending theme for the first time since 2005, with Tani Yuuki’s ‘Moshi Monogatari’. Yuuki hoped that ‘Moshi Monogatari’ conveyed a message of inspiration to children, even if they hit a setback in life.
