Nintendo has announced that the Tetris 99 53rd Maximus Cup will feature a theme inspired by Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Tetris 99 53rd Maximus Cup will be held from Friday, May 1 at 12:00 a.m. PDT to Monday, May 4 at 11:59 p.m. PDT, and players who compete in online battles in Tetris 99 mode and collect at least 100 event points will unlock the new in-game Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream theme. Event points awarded based on rank achieved in each battle you compete in during the event.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream launched on April 16 digitally in the Nintendo eShop and physically at retail. A free Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream demo is available now, allowing players to make a few Miis and try out some of the game’s features. Save data from the demo transfers to the full game. For completing the demo, you get a free hamster costume, which also carries over to the full game.
Nintendo released Tetris 99 in 2019 as a complementary title with Nintendo Switch Online memberships. As the name suggests, the game is a 99-player battle royale with the gameplay of Tetris. Past Maximus Cups have featured art and music from Pikmin 4, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Super Mario Bros Wonder and more.
