Xbox Announces ‘Project Helix’ Next Generation Console

Microsoft has announced Project Helix, the next generation of Xbox console, in a new post from Xbox’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. A short teaser video was released to unveil the logo for Xbox Project Helix, and new Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma shared a message regarding Team Xbox’s “commitment to the return of Xbox.” 

 

“Great start to the morning with Team Xbox, where we talked about our commitment to the return of Xbox including Project Helix, the code name for our next generation console,” said Sharma on her official X account. “Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games. Looking forward to chatting about this more with partners and studios at my first GDC next week!”

Sharma took the reins as Microsoft Gaming CEO when Phil Spencer retired on February 23. Xbox president Sarah Bond also resigned from her position, with Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty taking over the position as Chief Content Officer of Microsoft Gaming. The leadership changes come during the company’s 25th anniversary, which will feature games such as Forza Horizon 6FableHalo: Campaign Evolved, and Gears of War: E-Day.

Forza Horizon 6 is already confirmed to release on May 19 for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Windows and Steam, while Halo: Campaign Evolved is rumored to release in summer 2026, Fable will release in Fall 2026, and Gears of War: E-Day is targeting a late 2026 launch. Xbox will likely reveal more details about its future in the coming weeks and months.
