Nintendo Switch 2 Sales Hit 17.37 Million Units Globally, Switch 1 Surpasses DS Sales Record

Nintendo published its earnings release for the third quarter of fiscal year ending on March 31, 2026, confirming that Nintendo Switch 2 reached 17.37 million units in global sell-through as of December 31, 2025. Numerous sales updates on Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2, and more titles were also revealed.

Roughly 7.01 million Switch 2 units were sold from October 1 to December 31, resulting in a total of 17.37 million units sold. In the same quarter, 17.31 million Switch 2 software units were sold.

As for the original Nintendo Switch, it’s now the best-selling Nintendo hardware of all time at 155.37 million, beating the long record held by the Nintendo DS at 154.02 million. 1.36 million Switch hardware units were sold, in addition to 47.37 million software units.

  6. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – 28.08 million
  7. Pokémon Sword and Shield – 27.08 million
  8. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – 22.40 million

  10. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 18.80 million

Nintendo revealed several new sales figures for a variety of original Nintendo Switch games:

  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder – 17.15 million
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree – 9.41 million
  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A – 8.41 million
  • Super Mario Galaxy – 2.28 million
  • Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 2.24 million

Over 37.93 million Nintendo Switch 2 games and ~1.5 billion Nintendo Switch games have been sold worldwide as of December 31, 2025.
