Nintendo has revealed that Kirby Air Riders sold over 1.76 million copies from November 20, 2025, through December 31, 2025. This number was released as part of Nintendo’s Q3 FY2026 release, which also revealed that the Nintendo Switch has surpassed the Nintendo DS in sales.
Air Riders is the sequel to Kirby Air Ride, the beloved GameCube game that was released in 2003. Masahiro Sakurai returned to direct the title, bringing back many of the modes from the original, in addition to over a dozen playable characters. The fast-paced action is a wild contrast from Mario Kart World, offering a unique experience for Switch 2 players.
An update for the game was just released last week, featuring GameShare support, a new Grand Prix mode, and much more. Balance adjustments and bug fixes were also packed in.
In our 4.5/5 review, we wrote, “Kirby Air Riders is absurdly challenging to get into. The controls are complicated, and the process of unlocking things is a mess. But when you eventually understand the gameplay mechanics, the sheer amount of content, the thrilling races, and the modes like City Trial and Road Trip, will keep you engaged no matter how long you play. Masahiro Sakurai has done it again!”
