The official Splatoon North America account has announced that version 11.0.0 of the Splatoon 3 will release on January 28. The update will add new gameplay adjustments and more.
A post on the account teases the update, stating that “in addition to gameplay balance adjustments, some exciting modifications to the battle system will be added as well.” Nintendo will reveal more closer to the release of the update. Recently, Pan European Game Information (or PEGI) rated Splatoon 3 for the Nintendo Switch 2 in Europe. The rating could indicate that a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game is in development. On June 12, 2025, Nintendo released an update for Splatoon 3 which added visual and performance updates to the game.
However, the game has not received an official upgrade to the new hardware, unlike The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, or the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition could add major additions to the story and multiplayer, plus even further enhancements to the visuals, alongside some new control options. Only time will tell if anything will come of the rating.
Also in June, Nintendo officially revealed the next entry and first spin-off in the Splatoon franchise: Splatoon Raiders. Currently, details for the new game, such as its mechanics and release date, are extremely scarce. However, we do know that players take on the role of a mechanic and go on an adventure in the mysterious Spirhalite Islands. The game will also feature the Deep Cut trio in a major role.
Lastly, Splatoon 3 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
