Digital Extremes has released a holiday update for the Soulframe pre-alpha, titled “Preludes,” available now on PC. The update adds a new limited-time “Thawtide Holiday” event, new runes, and quality-of-life improvements.
Three new runes for the flyblade, greatsword, and polearm are available. Further, it adds changes to Ode’n Walls with new openings and entrances and increased Faction Standing from Faction Tale side quests, among others. The Thawtide Holiday event, which lasts until January 20, adds a new cosmetic, Cardinal Sparrow Guide bird skins, a new bow, and a new dagger. Recently, during The Game Awards 2025, Digital Extremes released a new trailer for Soulframe. Check it out below:
The official Soulframe website describes the game:
Washed ashore on the northern isle of Midrath, a new adventure begins.
Omen beasts in Ode’n chain bellow in mourning. The voicing trees sag ‘long tortured streams. The worldflesh of Alca splits with rage.
Who will find the Silvern Seas and awaken our Ancestors? Who will learn the melodies of soul unbinding, and break the gaunting spellsong? Who will hold in their heart the wanderers, the wild, the world? You will, Envoy.
While Soulframe is still listed for a 2025 release date, community manager Sarah Asselin stated that the release window is an “aspirational goal.” She goes on to say that “we’re looking at where we’re at by the end of the year, but we want to feel confident that we’ve built Soulframe out to the point where it feels good to do so, for the players and the developers.” Additionally, while Digital Extremes’ have not yet confirmed the game’s consoles, it will likely be available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, similarly to Warframe.
