Monolith Soft Hopes to Continue Partnering with Nintendo on Future Zelda Game Development

Monolith Soft has released a new interview titled ‘Walking Together With Nintendo: Looking Back on 15 Years of Zelda Development’ tonight on its blog, which overviews the company’s history of working with Nintendo on The Legend of Zelda series.

In this interview, Daiki Iwamoto, the Zelda Assistant Producer and member of the Monolith Soft Board of Directors, shared that he hopes to continue working with Monolith Soft on new Zelda games in the future. Iwamoto previously directed Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, The Wind Waker HD, and Skyward Sword HD. He served as Assistant Director on Breath of the Wild. Monolith Soft and Nintendo have collaborated on Skyward SwordBreath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom

Finally, please tell us about your outlook for the future.

Yasuhiro Fujita: Developing The Legend of Zelda always brings new challenges, so I think it’s important for the team to stay flexible enough to handle them. I’d like our team to consist of people with diverse skills and experience who are able to communicate well, and constantly strive for the best possible outcome, while also evolving. And I want us to take on even more responsibilities moving forward.

Daiki Iwamoto: I would love it if MonolithSoft continued to be a strong partner that takes on the core development of The Legend of Zelda from the ground up. Building on the know‑how we’ve cultivated over the years, I hope to further boost our overall team strength and continue creating unique series titles together.
