Team Cherry Reveals Hollow Knight: Silksong ‘Sea of Sorrow’ Expansion and Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

To celebrate seven million copies sold, Team Cherry has revealed the new “Sea of Sorrow” expansion for Hollow Knight: Silksong, which will launch in 2026 for free. Hollow Knight: Silksong Sea of Sorrow features new areas, bosses, tools, and much more. 

What’s more, Team Cherry has announced Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which features all the updates and enhancements that Hollow Knight: Silksong received, including high frame-rate modes, higher resolutions, and additional graphical effects. Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will be free to all owners of Hollow Knight on Switch in 2026.

In preparation for the launch of Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, all existing versions of the original game will be updated with features and bug fixes. PC gamers can experience many of the updates now with the public beta branches on Steam and GOG. These branches include 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratio support for Steam Deck and ultrawide monitors, respectively. The full list of fixes and improvements that were made can be read on Steam, and more details will be revealed at a later date before the full release.

Lastly, Hollow Knight: Silksong is available now for $19.99 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Xbox Game Pass subscribers receive Hollow Knight: Silksong at no additional cost with their membership.
