Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto noted that consumer response for Nintendo Switch 2 was “better than expected,” despite the varying prices across the world, according to a recent interview with Nikkei.
“The Nintendo Switch 2 was released in June 2025 at a price of 49,980 yen (tax included), and the response was better than we [Capcom] had expected,” Tsujimoto said. “While prices vary by country, this reaffirmed the high level of cost-consciousness among ordinary consumers.”
The interview was mostly focused on Monster Hunter Wilds, but the company’s outlook on Nintendo Switch 2 is key, as Tsujimoto also said that the price of PlayStation 5 (80,000 yen) is an “unexpectedly large barrier” for the game. Capcom wants to build the game’s sales past the previously announced 10 million sales mark.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Before launch, Final Weapon reviewed Monster Hunter Wilds and gave it a 4 out of 5 score, noting that the game is “a worthy follow-up to Capcom’s most successful game ever.”
Fans can expect more updates for Monster Hunter Wilds. A collaboration between Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV begins with Free Title Update 3 in late September 2025. Additionally, Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 4 will introduce optimizations to the game’s PC version as part of a “multifaceted plan.”
Capcom announced Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, the next entry in the long-running Monster Hunter Stories RPG series. The game will launch in 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2.
