Techland released the new “Blood & Guts” trailer for Dying Light: The Beast to showcase the game’s increased gore and brutality effects. As a result, it should be noted that the Dying Light: The Beast trailer does contain brutal and graphic violence, so you’ve been warned.
The “Blood & Guts” trailer shows a non-stop montage that highlights the gore improvements and new effects that were specifically made for Dying Light: The Beast, including decapitations, deep slashes and stabs, and gory finishers.
“We’ve dramatically increased the body horror to give you this feeling of fighting for pure survival and Kyle’s hunger for revenge,” said Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektała. “It’s one thing to see a health bar go down; it’s another entirely to see the flesh peel away from bone or have a burnt and destroyed faces only inches away from you – that’s how nightmares are made!”
“We’ve overhauled the body damage system.” said game director Nathan Lemaire. “We doubled the number of places on enemies – we call them Gore-Nodes – where players can inflict damage and the number of wounds or injuries that are visible on one single enemy. And we improved the precision of melee attacks – so the angle and trajectory of your strike defines what you hit and how your enemies react to it. So you can target and cut off limbs more precisely than ever!”
In addition, Techland released the “Behind the Beast: The Art of Blood” video in order to go behind the scenes.
Lastly, Dying Light: The Beast releases on September 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Before Dying Light: The Beast was delayed, the release date was originally planned for August 22.
