A new article from Deadline has announced that Jason Momoa and Roman Reigns are in talks to star in the upcoming Street Fighter live action film. They join the talks alongside Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo, who would play Ryu and Ken, respectively, if Legendary can land on a deal.
Leati Joseph Anoa’i, also known as Roman Reigns, is a beloved pro wrestler working for the WWE. He has held numerous championships within the company multiple times, including the Undisputed Championship, Universal Championship, and World Heavyweight Championship. Unlike other wrestlers like John Cena, Dwayne Johnson, or Dave Bautista, Reigns has made very few appearances in Hollywood other than a brief cameo in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
Jason Momoa has made numerous appearances in recent high grossing films, such as A Minecraft Movie, Aquaman, and Fast X. He will also play Lobo in the upcoming DC film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It is unknown who Roman Reigns or Jason Momoa would play in the upcoming Street Fighter film.
Sony attached Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip, The Eric Andre Show) to be the director of the film. Before it, Talk To Me filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou, also jointly known as RackaRacka, were the directors before departing the project. As of now, Kitao will still direct the project.
Street Fighter 6, the most recent entry in the Street Fighter series, is available now on the PlayStation, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The next DLC character, Elena, will release on June 5. She will be included with the “Years 1-2 Fighters Edition” of Street Fighter 6, which will include 26 playable characters. It will release for Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day.
