SEGA has filed a new trademark for its classic SEGA Dreamcast turn-based RPG, Skies of Arcadia. This could be a simple renewal of the trademark, but it was filed at a curious time as SEGA is preparing many remakes and remasters.
The Skies of Arcadia trademark was filed on Thursday, January 16, according to the official filing. It later went public on Friday, January 24. Although the trademark is not definitive confirmation of a new game, it’s worth noting that SEGA has been filing trademarks for many of its dormant IPs following the announcement of several SEGA revivals in December 2023.
Skies of Arcadia originally launched on October 5, 2000 for SEGA Dreamcast in Japan. North America and Europe received the RPG on November 14, 2000 and April 27, 2001. The game also released on Nintendo GameCube as Skies of Arcadia Legends for Japan on December 26, 2002, North America on January 28, 2003, Europe on May 23, 2003, and Australia on June 6, 2003.
Back in December 2023, SEGA filed numerous trademarks for Alex Kidd, After Burner, Crazy Taxi, House of the Dead, Outrun, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, and Super Monkey Ball. At the end of 2024, SEGA also filed new trademarks for the Ecco the Dolphin series, which went public on January 14, 2025. Currently, SEGA is developing new Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Jet Set Radio, and Golden Axe games.
SEGA recently launched its SEGA Account service, allowing fans to create online profiles and enjoy a various of benefits and exclusive bonuses while playing SEGA and ATLUS games and using their online services. Creating an account also signs the user up to receive news and updates from SEGA and ATLUS. At a later date, users will be able to view their in-game records.
