Ghost of Tsushima: Legends to Receive Anime from Aniplex and Crunchyroll

A new anime production from Aniplex.

Aniplex and Crunchyroll have announced a Ghost of Tsushima anime production today at Sony Group Corporation’s CES 2025 presentation titled Ghost of Tsushima Legends, the same name as the multiplayer expansion. This comes in advance of 2025’s Ghost of Yōtei, the sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, developed by Sucker Punch Productions. Aniplex, Crunchyroll, and PlayStation are all owned by Sony Group Corporation, so this crossover is something that will be a collaboration between multiple companies and brands within Sony.

As revealed in a press release, the anime will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno, with Gen Urobuchi (NITRO PLUS) in charge of story composition. Additionally, animation will be handled by KAMIKAZE DOUGA, with Sony Music as the strategic music and soundtrack partner.

You can view an overview of Ghost of Tsushima via Steam below:

In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan.

As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, courageous samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands resolute. As one of the last surviving members of his clan, Jin is resolved to do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.

Ghost of Tsushima is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime will premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027.
