TOHO Animation announced the Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin anime will continue with a sequel, or in other words, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Season 2. In addition, a new mobile game adaptation is in development.
A new trailer for Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Season 2 was released as a YouTube short to tease fans. In addition, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin character designer Ryudai Murayama released a new visual to celebrate the game’s 4th anniversary. The visual depicts the continuation of the anime, the new mobile game, and the new Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation spin-off.

Edelweiss is currently developing Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation, which focuses on Sakuna’s close friend Princess Kokorowa. Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation is the “first entry in an expanding Sakuna franchise,” implying that more games will be on the way. Platforms and a release date were not announced yet.
The anime adaptation of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin premiered on July 6 this year. The anime is produced by TOHO Animation and produced by P.A. Works. The opening and ending theme songs of the Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin anime are “Hareha! (Sunny!)” by Ikimonogakari and “ORIGAMI” by Little Glee Monster.
Lastly, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. More details about the new games and second season of the anime will be revealed soon, according to the anime’s official website.
