MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls Update Roadmap Revealed

Including a reassessment of input response, adjustments to assists, and character balance.

Arc System Works has outlined the update roadmap for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, featuring changes that will release in the near future. The game is available now on PlayStation 5 and PC.

In the future, ArcSys is planning on evaluating input response time, overly frequent assists and tags, and character balance. It intends to implement adjustments to the current input windows to “ensure a smoother and more responsive gameplay experience” and potentially increase the cooldown time for certain assists and switches. In regards to character balance, it stated this:

About Character Balance

As for character balance, while we have received a lot of feedback, as of now, we believe the game is still in a discovery phase. Discoveries continue to be made daily concerning individual characters, as well as various team combinations, which indicates to us that it is still too early to start modifying character traits. Also, as we expect the overall battle balance to be affected by the Assist/Tag changes I mentioned earlier, any character balance adjustments we make would be minimal.

At the time of writing this message, we are at a point where there is still a realistic chance that new techniques and metas will be discovered. For now, we intend to focus on the direction I presented above, with upcoming updates centered on adjusting mechanics and inputs as soon as possible.

We intend to implement these changes at a time that will have as little impact as possible on major tournaments, including the qualifiers for the Arc World Tour.

The launch roster of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls includes Peni Parker, Storm, Magik, Danger, Wolverine, Captain America (Steve Rogers), Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Iron Man, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Black Panther (Shuri), Hulk, Star-Lord, Green Goblin, Carnage, Blade, Loki, and Deadpool, alongside secret character The Champion. The roadmap for Tōkon will also include Phoenix Cyclops, the first DLC character coming to the game in fall 2026.
