In a new article with Entertainment Weekly, Jeff Fowler, the director of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film, confirmed that the film will tease future characters for the series. According to the article the film will continue the “tradition set by the previous two films,” and will “set the stage for a potential fourth movie to introduce another video game character after Tails and now Shadow.”
Further, director Jeff Fowler stated that “It’s fun to see the fan debates online about who’s coming up next, who’s going to be teased at the end of the film. We have a lot of the same conversations. We’ve all got our favorites on the filmmaking side, and we’re all making great cases for ‘it should be this one or that one.’ It is fun to keep that anticipation. This movie is no different in terms of teasing new characters.”

Only time will tell if Sonic the Hedgehog 3 teases the debut of future characters such as Amy, Rouge, Silver, Chaos, or Metal Sonic. Recently, Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for the film. It is the long-awaited newest entry in the ongoing Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise that began in 2020. The upcoming film will feature the highly anticipated debut of Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic’s sworn rival since his debut in Sonic Adventure 2. Keanu Reeves will voice Shadow in the film.
Lastly, the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie will premiere in theaters on December 20. Sonic X Shadow Generations is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
