SEGA has officially released episode 1 of the three-part Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings animated short series. The episode, titled “Shadow and Maria,” highlights the relationship between the two titular characters. The second episode, titled “Finding the Way,” will release on October 3. The third and final episode, titled “To The Ark,” will release on October 10.

Recently, Paramount Pictures released a trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The film is the long-awaited newest entry in the ongoing Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise that began in 2020. The upcoming film will feature the highly anticipated debut of Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic’s sworn rival since his debut in Sonic Adventure 2. Keanu Reeves will voice Shadow in the film.
On October 25, SEGA will feature Shadow in the upcoming remastered version of Sonic Generations, titled Sonic X Shadow Generations. SEGA released a new trailer for the game during Sonic Central. Check out our preview of the game here. Keanu will also voice Shadow in the game’s movie pack, which will feature scenes from the upcoming film. The DLC is included with the Digital Deluxe Edition of Sonic X Shadow Generations.
The upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie will premiere in theaters on December 20. Sonic X Shadow Generations will launch on October 25 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Pre-orders for the Collector’s Edition are available now until October 6 at the Limited Run Games Store. The Collector’s Edition releases in 2025 for $249.99, featuring an exclusive Sonic and Shadow SEGA Dreamcast statue and additional physical items.
