Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerrilla Games announced Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will release on October 31 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. This version will include many new improvements over the original game, including 10 hours of re-recorded conversations.
According to Guerrilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will feature improved mocap and several graphical improvements that will bring the game’s fidelity up to its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. Some of the improvements include better animations, lighting, textures, load times, and audio. Specifically, the sound mix has been revamped to support PS5 Tempest 3D Audio Tech and Atmos rendering for a more immersive audio experience.
The remaster also takes advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, along with new optional accessibility options that utilize sound and haptic feedback. Many of the accessibility features found in the release of Horizon Forbidden West are also included in the remaster, such as remappable controls and assist toggles.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will also release with native support for the new PlayStation 5 Pro. On PC, the PlayStation overlay with trophy support will be available in the remaster. Ultra-wide resolutions, NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.1 with frame generation are also supported, thanks to the work by Nixxes Software.
Old save data will work in the remaster, so players may continue directly from where they left off. Existing owners of the original game or the Complete Edition, physical or digital, may upgrade to the digital version on their respective platforms for $9.99. Pre-orders will be begin on October 3.
