Electronic Arts has officially been acquired by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners. The buyout from the three companies, collectively known as “The Consortium” was first proposed in September 2025.
In a statement, Andrew Wilson, Chairman & CEO of Electronic Arts, stated the following about the acquisition: “This moment recognizes the extraordinary people whose creativity, ambition and passion have made EA one of the world’s leading interactive entertainment companies. We’re entering this next chapter from a position of strength with partners who share our vision and ambition. Together, we’ll invest boldly, accelerate innovation, and build the next generation of games and experiences for the hundreds of millions of players and fans who inspire us every day.”
In September 2025, EA announced that it had entered into a private equity deal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners in an all-cash transaction. The transaction is worth $55 billion. Now, the buyout has officially been completed. Currently, it is unknown if or how the purchase will affect Electronic Arts’ future projects, such as the next Mass Effect or the next entry in the Star Wars Jedi series.
EA SPORTS FC 27, one of the biggest games from EA releasing this year, launches on September 25. It will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
