PlayStation Reveals the PS5 Pro for $700

    Pre-orders begin September 26.

Sony Interactive Entertainment have announced the PlayStation 5 Pro, the latest addition of the PS5 family. The new PS5 Pro will launch on November 7 for $699.99, £699.99, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (includes tax), offering a big performance uplift.

The new PS5 Pro aims to deliver smooth 60 FPS with high fidelity visuals, essentially giving the benefits of Fidelity and Performance modes found on PS5 in one. To do this, the console has a GPU with 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory. This gives a 45% boost in rendering. Moreover, the console features more powerful ray tracing abilities (double to triple ray casting speed) with more dynamic reflection and refraction of light.

The new console also introduces PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling system that uses machine learning-based technology to boost image clarity. On top of this, PS5 Pro Game Boost will apply to more than 8,500 PS4 games and enhance the performance of supported PS5 games. Network connectivity has also been improved, with Wi-Fi 7 support included.

Various games will be updated with a PS5 Pro Enhanced label over time, indicating improvements were made for the console. These games will include:

    • Alan Wake 2
    • Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
    • Demon’s Souls
    • Dragon’s Dogma 2
    • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
    • Gran Turismo 7
    • Hogwarts Legacy
    • Horizon Forbidden West
    • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
    • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
    • The Crew Motorfest
    • The First Descendant
    • The Last of Us Part II Remastered

Players will have no shortage of games to install, thanks to the included 2TB SSD. Astro’s Playroom is pre-installed, serving as a teaser for the recently released Astro Bot. It’s worth noting that the disc drive and vertical stand are not included, so the real cost can be upwards of $800. Pre-orders for the PS5 Pro will begin on September 26 at retail and PlayStation’s direct store
