In a new Q&A session held on The Game Awards Twitch channel, Geoff Keighley responded to fans saying they’re hopeful that Kingdom Hearts IV will make an appearance at this year’s Summer Game Fest. In a reply to the live chat, Keighley said the following:
“People keep asking about Kingdom Hearts, I don’t know why… I guess it’s because we did Final Fantasy [VII] Rebirth last year. But, uh yeah [laughs]. People are setting themselves up for failure, but you guys can keep hoping.”

Many were hopeful that Kingdom Hearts IV would make an appearance at the Summer Game Fest 2024 Showcase, as the game skipped the PlayStation State of Play. As the game has been in development since Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind, many do expect the title to release sometime in 2025.
The next title in the series, Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, is set to open pre-registration sometime in the near future. We’ll be sure to keep you updated once this is live.
Kingdom Hearts IV is currently in development at Square Enix. The title is set to take place in Quadratum following Sora after the events of Kingdom Hearts III. Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that Quadratum will act as the “hub” for the early portions of the game and that there will be a “Lost Masters” antagonist group. You can check out the reveal trailer here.
Recently, leaker Midori revealed new information on Kingdom Hearts IV, stating that the game will have “small online elements” and that the entire series + KHIV will come to Nintendo Switch 2.
