Undecided on his future after Square Enix.

HARVESTELLA producer Daisuke Taka announced that he will be leaving Square Enix at the end of April 2024. The game producer is undecided about his next move following his departure from the company.

HARVESTELLA Producer Daisuke Taka Comments on Square Enix Departure

“I’ll be leaving Square Enix at the end of April,” Taka said on Twitter. “Yesterday was my last day going into the office! I’m blessed as a producer that there are still so many people playing HARVESTELLA, which was released the year before last. To all the players, streamers, stream viewers, and the staff involved in its development—thank you so much.”

“As for me personally, I’m completely undecided on what I’ll do next. Generally people say they’re undecided while they really have their next thing lined up, but in my case I’m ‘completely undecided’!! How reckless!! I hope to participate in and create interesting things, so whether you’re a professional or amateur, feel free to reach out. I’m a lightweight, but I’d love to grab a drink. See ya.”

HARVESTELLA is available now for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Here’s an overview of the game, courtesy of Square Enix:

HARVESTELLA is set in a vibrant and colorful world where four giant crystals called “Seaslight” create a stable change between the four seasons. The adventure begins as abnormalities in the Seaslight begin to appear, creating the “Quietus,” a season of death that takes place between the naturally occurring four seasons. During the Quietus the crops wither and people cannot venture outside, and troublingly, these seasons are mysteriously growing longer with each year.

In this life simulation RPG, players will grow and tend to crops, use ingredients to cook and craft items, and venture into the overworld, which vibrantly changes based on the season, to visit different towns, interact with townsfolk, go fishing and more. Players can select from various Jobs, such as Fighter, Shadow Walker, and Mage, and venture into dungeons with their party to discover the origins of the world as well as the truth behind the calamity along the way.
