SEGA announced the new Shadow Costume for Sonic DLC is available now in Sonic Superstars for free. Players will be able to race through stages as Sonic in a Shadow-themed outfit to celebrate the announcement of Sonic x Shadow Generations.
During the January 31 State of Play, SEGA announced Sonic x Shadow Generations, a remaster of Sonic Generations with new content starring Shadow the Hedgehog. Shortly after the reveal, SEGA confirmed that a new Shadow the Hedgehog costume would be available in Sonic Superstars, the latest console and PC entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

In Sonic Superstars, players may control Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose across various new stages. These characters are able to use new Emerald powers to move and attack in “dynamic new ways.” Sonic may don various costumes while attempting to put an end to Eggman’s plans, including Christmas-themed attire.
This past November, SEGA CEO Haruki Satomi discussed that Sonic Superstars didn’t perform well to the company’s expectations in an earnings briefing. The game released alongside several other major releases including Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
“In reality, when Sonic IP sells the most is mainly November to December, and more than 90% of this title’s marketing cost will be spent in the Thanksgiving and holiday season from November onwards,” Satomi said. “Although in the financial results announced today, we are forecasting this title’s sales slightly weaker with the view of the status of start mentioned above, we plan to continue our marketing efforts to sell on the same level as Sonic Frontiers.”
Lastly, Sonic Superstars is now available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
