What Happened in Episode 2? (Recap)

Solo Leveling English Dub Voice Cast Revealed

Solo Leveling episode 2 saw Jinwoo and the rest of the hunters in complete despair as strange and horrific statues pick apart their ranks. With a scared Joohee at his side, Jinwoo puts his analytical and quick decision-making skills to the test. Jinwoo inspects the strange writing found in the dungeon to decipher a way to make it back home alive.

Various statues with instruments are the key to the group’s survival, as these act as unlocking mechanisms for the door that originally sealed them in. Jinwoo is able to unlock the door at a great cost: his entire ankle. Joohee attempts to help him, but the damage is too great. Jinwoo is still determined to get through this ordeal, however. The final step involves a great sacrifice at the altar.

Jinwoo discovers that blue flames are lit when the remaining members of the group enter the short perimeter of the altar. In order to survive, the group must make constant eye contact with the menacing statues until all blue flames run out. This plan was easier said than done, as hunters decided to escape the room instead of completing the final step of the required ritual.

Jinwoo, Song, and Joohee are the only ones left in the altar, and escape is practically impossible for all three. While gritting his teeth, Jinwoo tells Song to take Joohee out of the dungeon. This plan would make Jinwoo the required sacrifice, while ensuring Joohee’s safety. Jinwoo laments his weaknesses as he gets killed, but he will get the restart his deserves as the “player.”
