Nihon Falcom has entered a licensing agreement with NEOWIZ for development and a global release of a new PC and console game based on Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch, as reported by Gematsu. Serving as the first entry of the Gagharv Trilogy, The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch was originally released by Falcom in 1994 for the PC-9801, and it will return as a new title by NEOWIZ.
Falcom and NEOWIZ didn’t share details about what the new release could entail. However, this announcement may be attributed to a survey conducted by game media to celebrate Falcom’s 40th anniversary. In that survey, the Gagharv Trilogy was voted number one in the “Titles or Series Fans Want Released on Current Hardware” category.
The game’s story focus on the pilgrimage of Jurio, a young boy traveling with a girl named Christina in the world of Tirasweel. Its story unfolds through the interactions with people they encounter, relationships between characters, and musical performances that have left a lasting impression on players.
The Gagharv Trilogy consists of the aforementioned title, The Legend of Heroes IV: A Tear of Vermilion, and The Legend of Heroes V: Song of the Ocean. These games tell different stories of characters in different regions, and while it’s not connected to Falcom’s current Trails series as we know it, the Gagharv Trilogy’s world-building and storytelling serve as the origin of what Trails is known best for.
