What Happened in Frieren Episode 17? (Recap and Preview)

In Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End episode 17, the group stays at a cabin as a blizzard passes through the northern lands. This chilly stay causes an argument between Fern and Stark, but Sein steps up as an adult to help the two make up. Sein wishes the Fern and Stark would start dating already, and Frieren believes Sein is still a kid just like them. After this heartfelt conversation, Sein decides to follow in Gorilla Warrior’s footsteps (literally) and head to Tür. The group says goodbye to Sein, as they head their separate ways for now.

Frieren, Fern, and Stark continue their journey to Äuberst. The trio stops to rest at a small cave nearby, and Fern wakes up with a severe cold. Fortunately, Sein gave Frieren some notes before he departed the group, allowing her to gain some medical know-how to treat Fern’s cold. Frieren and Stark decided to bring her to a nearby village to get away from the cold weather and help her recover. After some heartfelt conversations and medicinal work, Frieren and Stark nurse Fern back to perfect health. The journey to Äuberst continues in episode 18, with the First Class Mage Exam on the Horizon!

While waiting for the new Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End episode, fans can watch episodes of the Frieren mini anime. Five episodes have been released so far on TOHO Animation’s YouTube channel. Lastly, Crunchyroll’s overview of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End reads:

The mage Frieren defeated the Demon King alongside the hero Himmel’s party after a 10-year quest. Peace was restored to the kingdom. Because she is an elf, she is able to live over a thousand years. She promises Himmel and the others that she will be back to see them and then sets out on a journey by herself. Fifty years later, Frieren goes to visit Himmel and the others. She remained unchanged, but Himmel and the others have aged and only a little of their lives remain. Later, she witnesses Himmel’s death. Frieren is pained by her desire to have spent more time getting to know people. With that regret in her heart, she then goes on a journey to do just that. On her journey, she meets many people and many events await her.
