    SEGA Files New Trademarks for Jet Set Radio and Altered Beast

    Trademarks filed by SEGA on December 6 have officially gone public. The trademarks include Jet Set Radio, Altered Beast, Kid Chameleon, and Eternal Champions.

    SEGA announced several new games during The Game Awards as part of a new initiative. The announced games include a new Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, and Golden Axe. The trailer hinted that more games would be released as part of the initiative. Altered Beast, Kid Chameleon, and Eternal Champions were games initially released on the Sega Genesis. With the new trademarks, a revival for the games mentioned above is highly likely.

    New SEGA Trademarks Revealed

    New SEGA Trademarks Have Surfaced, Including a New Jet Set Radio

     

    On December 13, trademarks filed by SEGA on December 6 were officially made public. The trademarks include Jet Set Radio, Altered Beast, Kid Chameleon, and Eternal Champions. These games will likely be apart of SEGA’s new gaming initiative, initially announced during The Game Awards.

    SEGA released the first entry in the Jet Set Radio franchise in 2000. The sequel, Future, was released two years later, in 2002. Over the years, several games were inspired by the colorful style and exciting movement style of the game. The biggest example of a spiritual successor to the Jet Set Radio franchise was the recent release of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.

    Altered Beast, Kid Chameleon, and Eternal Champions are games that SEGA initially released on the Genesis. SEGA released the 2D-Platformer Kid Chameleon in 1992. Altered Beast is a beat-em-up initially released in 1988. Eternal Champions is a fighting game released in in 1993. Kid Chameleon and Altered Beast are available on the Nintendo Switch.

    Recently, SEGA confirmed that they are hiring for the new Jet Set Radio game. Many of the staff from the original release will be returning with the new game. Additionally, SEGA also confirmed that Masayoshi Kikuchi will be the game’s producer. It is currently unknown when they will release the new Jet Set Radio.

    SEGA will confirm more details on all the games mentioned above in the coming months and years.
