SEGA Sammy published its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year ending in March 2024, revealing that the Like a Dragon series sold nearly 680,000 units between July 1, 2023 and September 30, 2023. This is a notable increase from the first quarter as the series heads toward its first major release of the fiscal year.
In the first quarter of FY2024, the Like a Dragon series moved 510,000 units without any new releases. The second quarter did not have any new releases as well, but Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will make its debut in the third quarter.
Like a Dragon Series Sales Update for Q2 FY2024
The Like a Dragon series sold nearly 680,000 units in the second quarter, bringing the fiscal year’s total franchise sales to 1.19 million units. No new titles were released in the quarter, so the latest update accounts for repeat sales (i.e. Like a Dragon: Ishin!).
The fiscal year’s first major release will be Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name in the third quarter. Moreover, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will release in the fourth quarter to close out the fiscal year. Both of the new titles will likely increase total sales for the series by a great amount.
Final Weapon’s Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name review notes that it’s an incredible game that finally bridges important gaps in the series. The story is essential as a key that leads directly into Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which features Kazuma Kiryu and Ichiban Kasuga as playable characters.
Lastly, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name launches digitally on November 9 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth releases on January 26, 2024 for the aforementioned platforms.
