THQ Nordic has officially announced that a video game adaptation of the hit comic book TMNT: The Last Ronin is in active development. The game will release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime in the next few years.
IDW Comics initially published TMNT: The Last Ronin in October 2020. They released a hardcover collection of the series in late 2022. The series features a dark take on the story and future of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. THQ Nordic will reveal more information on the game in the coming months and years.
TMNT: The Last Ronin Details
Earlier in the year, the official game adaptation of TMNT: The Last Ronin was announced by the senior vice president for games at Paramount Global, Doug Rosen. Rosen hinted that the game would be an action RPG akin to the recent God of War games. Currently, little information is known about how the game will play. However, THQ Nordic will likely reveal more details about the gameplay of The Last Ronin in the future.
On IDW’s official website, The Last Ronin is described as follows:
It’s the TMNT event of 2020! Springing from the minds of TMNT co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird comes an epic like you’ve never seen before! In a future NYC far different than the one we know today, a lone surviving Turtle goes on a seemingly hopeless mission to obtain justice for his fallen family and friends. Kinetic layouts from Eastman, inks from Esau and Isaac Escorza and a thrilling script full of surprises from longtime TMNT scribe Tom Waltz all combine to make this one of the most memorable TMNT stories you will ever read! Oversized in both format and page count, this is a perennial TMNT tale that can’t be missed!
TMNT: The Last Ronin will be released sometime in the next few years. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Check out the official trailer below and stay tuned for more details on the next video game in the TMNT universe.
