Mortal Kombat 1 Reveals Reptile, Ashrah, and Havik

    Several fan-favorite characters return.

NetherRealm Studios announced that Reptile, Ashrah, and Havik will return as playable fighters in Mortal Kombat 1. The latest trailer from EVO 2023 shows all these characters in action ahead of the game’s launch next month.

Although Mortal Kombat 11 did not return to the EVO 2023 main stage, NetherRealm Studios were ready to reveal several Mortal Kombat 1 characters at the show. Ed Boon constantly teased the return of Reptile on social media for weeks, but the creator and developers had a lot more in store for fans.

Reptile, Ashrah, and Havik Return in Mortal Kombat 1

As shown in the new “Banished” trailer, Reptile makes his return as a shape-shifting ninja in Mortal Kombat 1. His abilities made him a threat to all he once trusted, but Reptile will aid Liu Kang and his allies this time around. Ashrah, a holy demon, also makes her return as playable character for the first time since 2006’s Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. After showcasing gameplay of Reptile and Ashrah, Havik may be seen making his triumphant return as a playable character in Mortal Kombat 1. Although Havik appeared as a cameo in Mortal Kombat X and 11, he was not a playable character ever since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Fans may also look forward to Homelander, Omni-Man, Takeda, Ermac, Peacemaker, and Quan Chi as playable DLC characters in the Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack. A new edition of Kombat Kast is coming within the next few days, so NetherRealm will likely share more details about the newly unveiled characters from EVO 2023.

Lastly, Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 19 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic Games Store and Steam. The closed beta begins on August 18 for players who pre-ordered Mortal Kombat 1.
