Final Fantasy XVI: What Is an Eikon?

    All things Eikons.

If you’re looking forward to picking up Final Fantasy XVI, there’s a chance you might be curious about what an Eikon is if you haven’t kept up too much with the marketing. These powerful beings are an integral part of the world of Valisthea.

Final Fantasy XVI is being developed by Creative Business Unit III, led by Director Hiroshi Takai and Producer Naoki Yoshida. CBUIII is behind the critically acclaimed MMO Final Fantasy XIV, which continues to grow each year. Here is everything you need to know about Eikons in Final Fantasy XVI.

Final Fantasy XVI – What Is An Eikon?

Eikons are powerful beings that can be summoned to grant powerful abilities. These are the summons you know and love from the Final Fantasy series, such as Ifrit, Bahamut, Odin, and more. In the game, you’ll be able to use these Eikon Abilities to assist Clive in his battles and grow his move set. The relationship between Eikons and Dominants is described as the following on the official website:

The Eikons are the most powerful and deadly creatures in Valisthea. Each resides within a Dominant—a single man or woman who is blessed with the ability to call upon their dread power. In some nations these Dominants are treated as royalty in admiration of this strength—in others they are bound in fear of it, and forced to serve as weapons of war. Those who are born as Dominants cannot escape their fate, however cruel it may be.
