Tekken 8 Crossplay & Rollback Netcode Confirmed by Katsuhiro Harada

Harada seemingly confirmed these features for Tekken 8 on Twitter this evening.

Tonight on Twitter, Tekken 8 Director Katsuhiro Harada has seemingly confirmed that both crossplay and rollback netcode will be coming to Tekken 8. This transpired across a series of tweets where Harada responded to fans asking whether both technologies would be utilized in the upcoming title.

Regarding crossplay, Harada mentioned that he attempted to make this possible when the previous generation of consoles was released, however, both were “at odds with each other over their mutual interests”. Both of the tweets where these questions were answered can be found below.

Crossplay in Tekken 8 is quite a big deal as the previous iteration of the series did not boast the feature. With modern fighting games, features like crossplay and rollback netcode are becoming essential for a supreme user experience.

While there isn’t yet a release date for Tekken 8, it is still possible that the game releases later this year. 2023 is already shaping up to be a massive year for fighting games with titles like Street Fighter 6 and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising already confirmed to release in the calendar year. We’ll have to wait and see when exactly Tekken 8 will release, but a release date is assuredly on the horizon.

Tekken 8 is set to release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Be sure to check out all of the recent character reveals here!
